This Week at the Market

Regular updating is done each Wednesday for the upcoming weekend. Check back on Wednesday afternoon.

Sunday -- August 31, 2008 -- Construction is underway so you'll find us in a few places -- all of them just steps away from Columbus and 77th St.

Look for your favorite vendors --

  • in the PS 87 playground (on W. 77th St. near the corner of Amsterdam Ave.) -- just a 1/2 block down on W. 77th St.) where you will find most of the vendors. The gate is directly across from 170 W. 77th St. (Next week you will be able to view a photo gallery of vendors working here)

  • along the front fence of original playground - Columbus Ave. between W. 76th and 77th Streets -- where you'll find furniture vendors

  • in the Mini Outdoor Market, located between the apartment building at 125 W. 76th and the MS 44 School - with lots of crafts and antiques.

  • inside the MS 44 School building -- You can enter the indoor market through this Mini Market on W. 76th St. or use the door on W. 77th St. - just to the left of the front entrance.

If this is too much to remember, just follow the signs! There is a big map on the Columbus Avenue fence at the corner of Columbus and W. 77th St.

The office for the market remains inside the building -- enter through the Mini Market.

Riveria Gallery (www.rivieragallery.com) offers stunning reproductions of French and English furniture at very reasonable prices. These are made by hand and are finished beautifully. They made ideal accent pieces. You will find their display in the front of the schoolyard near the fence on W. 76th St. They also carry a large range of carpets.

In the words of the artist herself: In 1999, while working on a painting series, I got my first idea for a clothing line based on my art. I don’t use the actual paintings, but rather fragments from them in a unique and original way. The designs are not simply replacing the canvas.
Rather, they are a tool to make you feel unique and more like a living piece of art. My heartfelt intention is to allow the wearer a closer, more hands-on, connection to my work by making it part of their everyday life. All shirts are made from the finest fabrics and hand printed in my studio. Her website is
